:: that funny thing about spring ::

“He who works with his hands is a laborer.
He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman.
He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist.”
St. Francis of Assisi
:: This afternoon found me at my desk with my paintbrush in hand. Rarely do I paint without falling into some sort of reflection, and so, in between giving the brush a rinse and pulling out my camera for some "shots", I was struck by a thought. To put it simply: There is this funny thing about spring. I can not put my finger on what it is exactly... but the springtime seems to draw the use of one's hands, one's head, and one's heart into a sort of joyful harmony. Whether it be spring cleaning, baking for friends and family, reading, even painting, or simply tending the garden, a springtime freshness seems to arise in the heart. I find that not only does it encourage me in the joy of the present day and in the seasons to come, but it also reminds me that every action done with love is seen as a precious treasure, a work of art, in the eyes of God. How easy is it then, in this knowledge of His care, to work tirelessly, live joyfully, laugh unreservedly, and love unconditionally in every moment. ::
