:: blooms for cutting ::

:: JMJ ::

:: I have taken on a bit of an adventure this summer in my decision to start a cutting garden! The sole purpose of a cutting garden is not to provide flowers that will be admired in a garden, but rather, flowers to cut and arrange and share ... Therefore, the flowers are planted close together in rows, similar to it's next door neighbor, the vegetable garden.  A splendid little magazine article brought about my inspiration in March. How I would love to say that I have been spending these months ever since devotedly sketching garden blueprints and researching fertilizers and blossoms. Unfortunately, my phlegmatic nature would never allow for such organization. Rather, my garden was brought about through a hasty trip to Steins and several other local nurseries with hopes of snatching up some of the {now on clearance} flowers mentioned in that article last March. As a side note, St. Jude, patron of impossible causes, must have been interceding for me as I was miraculously able to recall most of the flower names from the article {the magazine had somehow not made the trip} and find quite a few of them. Now that my blossoms are finally tucked safely into the soil, I will be returning to Steins to grab an essential yet unsurprisingly forgotten bag of mulch.

All these chaotic little details put aside, the garden is beautiful. Gardens are always beautiful. It has been so peaceful for me to plant and water and weed and watch and water again. I have made a vow to plan next year's cutting garden... but next year will have to wait it's turn. As for now, I have a feeling that this year's garden is going to be perfect. ::
