day on the ocean: feeling a little like home
The very tip of Cape Ann, MA holds the sweetest little town, smelling of ocean and lobster and strudel. Mom, Dad, and I spent the day today meandering through the bustling streets of Rockport, munching on salt water taffy and window shopping. It was an absolutely lovely afternoon.
Things are very quaint and squished together in Rockport, and after a little while, the melancholic introvert in me started yearning for a bit of space in the midst of so many people and houses. It didn't take me long to find my space, a rocky perch looking out into the a vast terrain of the Atlantic Ocean. The view was breathtaking, and my delicious (albeit messy) cherry strudel complimented it quite nicely.
I will be moving into my new 'home away from home' in just two days (and I'm crossing my fingers that all my belongings will fit!)... but before I do, it has been so nice to take the time and just peruse a little of New England with Mom and Dad. We don't do much in our perusal, just walk and talk (and eat) and make memories, but I suspect that someday in the next few months when my real home is feeling very far away, it will be the memories of these days that make this Coast feel a little more like home.
