starting small - day 11: something stubborn

June 7th, 2017 - This is the eleventh day of a 40 day blogging challenge: some pictures and words each day. Come back tomorrow to see more posts!

~~~
Richard Wilbur has a lovely little poem about a plant bursting through the soil and into the world. He describes the plant as something stubborn and still unidentifiable, and yet it comes, steadily.
This is me these days. Happily stubborn, crabby, and even a little selfish, but growing. Maybe I'm still adjusting after a transplant from school to home... Either way, I went on a walk with Mama and complained about it. (What else are mommas for?) I don't know where I'm going, or what I'm doing! Eighteen is a funny age, I guess.
Momma's words are wise.
God isn't having you know the destination so that you can enjoy the journey.
I think I shall take them to heart. I don't know the destination, but I can and will enjoy the journey. This one little plant is stubborn and still unidentifiable, but definitely growing. Thank you, Momma for the advice. And thank you, Mr. Wilbur, for the poem...
Here something stubborn comes,
Dislodging the earth crumbs
And making crusty rubble.
it comes up bending double,
And looks like a green staple.
It could be seedling maple,
Or artichoke, or bean.
That remains to be seen.
