starting small - day 26: hello, beech tree

June 22th, 2017 - This is the twenty-sixth day of a 40 day blogging challenge: some pictures and words each day. Come back tomorrow to see more posts!
~~~
These summer days, full of green and dirt and bugs. These summer days, calling for a walk in the silent forest. The only noise: your footsteps and the wrinkling of leaves and the chattering of birds. But those things are not noise, just the earth breathing. We breathe as we walk. Quietly, rhythmically. We think.
Hello, beech tree.
... peeking through a clump of spindly trunks. Standing tall and strong. Swaying branches and shifting sunlight. Our footsteps stop, and we look. What beautiful creation we are surrounded by. Trees move around us and the sun-spots dance, nature's disco ball. The ground is warm and dusty, the air, wet and musty. As we pause, we think, we pray. The world is quiet in these woods.
The path calls us further down and our feet venture forward. The beech stays where it stands. waiting for the next passerby to pause, to look.
