:: Whatever you do in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord, giving thanks to God through Him, alleluia. 

What a beautiful Communion Antiphon to reflect on today as we honor good St. Joseph, the worker. (Truly one of my all time favorites!) I was thinking this morning just how profound and tender it is to think on the quiet life and work of St. Joseph. I imagine while St. Joseph worked in his humble little carpenter shop, that the Christ Child would often come to sit, converse, or simply be with him. How touching this is to ponder ... and yet, the same is for you and for me. Truly as we work in our own humble little ways, if we allow our hearts to remain open, the Christ Child pays a visit to us as well. Be it through the kind word or act of another or simply the gentle touch of His peace in our hearts, Christ is truly present in our day and our work. Good Saint Joseph, who's work and life was so beautifully Christ centered, sets a perfect example for us in our striving for holiness by the sanctification of our work. What an encouragement that is then to seek Christ's face in the face of others, to serve and glorify Him through our every word and deed. St. Joseph the worker, pray for us! 


      May 1st of this year is special in another way for my family as we celebrate both sets of my Grandparent's 50th Wedding anniversary! ::

:: JMJ ::   :: The two main rules that set the foundation of home education in my family: 1) One is always learning (even without a book) 2) If one gets into a car, one is going on a field trip. And so, the other morning,  mom and I hopped into the Subaru and headed off on a summer field trip. Our errand was to pick up a jar of honey from a neighboring farm. While we left supplied with honey, we also spent our morning in the company of some very lovely goats and a sweet little summer farm kitchen that had been converted into a soap making space. I had a delightful time. My first goat memory is quite vivid. I was four, maybe five years old, and mom had taken me into a friend's barn to visit their goats. :: JMJ ::  :: My suspicion is always confirmed a round this time of year  that the month of May is nought but an insufficient scrap of time into which is crammed an incredibly high concentration of chaotic thrill. Final exams, graduations, First Communions, parties,  auditions,  recitals, concerts ...  it seems that  all at once these events  impertinently  wedge themselves by way of ink into the declining whiteness of the calendar pages. I have gradually learned to accept this as 'May's way', and I have discovered that one can do nothing except simply enjoy every minute of the motley pandemonium. This year's month of May has been no exception, we are five days in now, and the month of our Lady has been filled to the brim.
