:: seventeen and hopeful ::
:: Seventeen found me spending a day at the beach with my family. Quietly, it came up from behind to whisper "boo!" in my ear and send me cowering in surprise into a comfortably familiar corner of memories, ages 3 … 6 … 11 … 14 … 15 … 16. But now the 17 was finally here. My birthday caught me a bit unaware, as it always does. But then, I suppose, I have a whole year to get used to it's newness, until it happens all over again.
I was just pondering what a beautiful source of hope a birthday is for one's future. It reminds one of what great things God has done in the years leading up to this day, and what great things He has in store for the years to come! Every birthday opens a new door and invites one to step over the threshold to new, broadened horizons. If you think about it, it is really a very profound experience to be faced with such newness and limitlessness … I have experienced and believe in Christ's unfailing goodness in my life in every day past. Filled with that knowledge, I face the days to come with anticipation and hope. Seventeen is going to be a great year. I can feel it already.
"We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." {Hebrews 6:19} ::
Blessings to you always!
